There are many employees out there attending almost many Kerala PSC examinations according to their eligibility, but this is the question one of my readers asked a couple of days ago he is not interested to join in the Kerala police force, but he called for the physical test.
In this post, I will give you a detailed explanation for those with the same doubts.
First, applying for a job is not feasible if you are not willing to join. This will eliminate the chance of other employees willing to do the job. Once the written test has passed, the eligible candidates will be called for the physical tests. But, as per the rules, the decision can take the employees according to their wish.
No Need! In the PSC profile, you can indicate your willingness to join the post. Use this feature if you are uninterested after completing the physical test and interview.
But think twice when you make any decision because it’s a job. Millions of people, especially youth, don’t have a job to survive.
Willingness and Non-willingness for the appointment
You know there are profiles for every employee who can manage their job applications on the Kerala Public Service Commission, the portal is called THULASI.
Look at the above-given screenshot that is a feature on the PSC web portal on your profile.
It asks you to say “Register your willingness/Non-willingness for an appointment for the following posts”
If you do not respond within the stipulated date, it shall be considered that you are NOT WILLING for the appointment in the specified post and further action will be taken accordingly.
If you select the option Active willingness, the actions will be taken accordingly. You have to go for the physical tests conducted by the Kerala PSC.
If I am not willing, will it cause any issues for future exams
Currently, no issue will be there if you reject the willingness for an appointment for a job that you are not interested. You can apply and write exams based on your qualifications, willingness, etc. No issue.
But in my opinion, you can join the force or any other job even that you are not interested in, but PSC also allows employees to take a leave for years and prepare for another examination.
Logically, It’s not favored because millions of non-employed persons are actively preparing for the Kerala PSC exams to get a job.
What happens when I give Previous willingness (Date Over) in the profile?
If you give Previous willingness in your profile, and the date is over, you should not get the job as the call has been made as per the current rank list. If your mind has changed, then you need to write the exam again when PSC calls for the posts again in the future.
So, take the decision wisely because the job is very important in everyday life. Having a police job will give you a respect from the society.
Valuable advice from my experience
This is what happened to my friend regarding his refusal to join a job even after being selected. One of my friends struggled a lot to get a job in the Government sector. He worked hard and applied for every post announced by the Kerala Public Service Commission. He is a B.Ed graduate and is passionate about working as a teacher.
He received an appointment, called an advice memo, for a position in another department, but he refused to join because he loves the teaching profession. He continued trying to get a teaching post, and as a result, lost another 5 years pursuing his dream job. Meanwhile, his financial situation became very poor.
If he had joined the job he was offered 5 years ago and prepared for his dream job in his free time, his financial stability might have been much better.
So, if you receive an advice memo from any department, just join the job and then try to get your preferred job later. It’s very difficult to get a job in the government sector due to high competition.
Consider the following factors before making a decision
If you desire to pursue another job and are confident that you can find enough time to prepare for that exam even after joining the police department, then you can proceed with joining the police department.
Because time is not recoverable and when time goes by, it does not come back. And most importantly, TIME IS MONEY. You can earn a salary as a source of income even when you are preparing for other exams.
If you are on another rank list, then make sure the chance of getting appointed to that post is based on the vacancy and the rank position in the list.
Letting off a chance is easy but gaining a post is difficult, especially in this world of having full of competition.
Assess your physical fitness
Police job needs a lot of health fitness, and you may get into the session because you are eligible based on the criteria evaluated by the PSC or Kerala police department. But after joining the post, you may undergo training sessions which are full of hard practices to make a policeman better.
More than half a lakh or Indian rupee is spent by the Government of Kerala to make a policeman with good health and that cost belongs to exercise and food. So, if you are not confident to face the training session, you won’t accept the advice memo, you can give a non-willingness option so that a third person having all the capability will get a job.
Time
Consider your age as of now before making a decision. If you are already at the age of 27, it’s better to accept the advice memo and join the department. As you know, PSC recruitment is a very slow process and you need to wait a month, or even 2 or 3 years to go through the procedures.
If you are in the age range of 20 years, you still have time to achieve the post that you love to join. So, age is an important factor.
