As information technology develops to such an extent and the knowledge of the people has increased as the usage of mobile devices, Governments have made people simply get services from their homes with the help of online portals.
For the people in Kerala, if they have a little bit of knowledge of using mobile or a computer, and have an internet connection at home, they can themselves get government services without going to any common service center or Akshaya center.
Services associated with the various certificates, compensation claims, utility bills, RTI, etc.
The Kerala E-District project aims to offer government services to citizens conveniently through Common Service Centers (CSC). These centers provide a one-stop platform for various departmental services, some of which are also accessible online. If you plan to start a common service center business like an Akshaya center, the eDistrict is a must-used service to apply for various services for your customers.
By leveraging backend computerization, the project ensures transparency, uniform application of rules, and efficient service delivery. It integrates automation and Business Process Re-Engineering (BPR) to streamline operations, ultimately minimizing time and effort while maximizing effectiveness in delivering services to the public.

One window for common service center owners
eDistrict Kerala is referred to as one window service for the people where the common service centers and Akshaya centers can easily access the government services. They don’t want to open multiple windows on a web browser to get the online services.
You can go to the official website of the eDistrict Kerala. Have to create an account with the needed documents and details.
Create portal user
You can be a portal user and provide government services to your nearby people and earn a handsome amount of money. Make it a full-time or part-time income opportunity.
Give all of the necessary details here in the box. You should have a unique login name and password for entering the portal each time to apply for a service or certificate.
An Indian citizen with a valid Aadhaar card holder can be a member.
Once you have passed all of the validity checks and valuation with your email address you can start using the service.
Provide your customer with what required documents for the specific certificate application
There are different documents required to apply for a certificate through the eDistrict portal. So, to keep a good relationship with your customers, you should tell them all of the required documents. Here in Kerala, the common service center persons do not give the required document details to the customers.
To know the required documents to apply for a certificate, go to this link
There are listed all the services you can access from the portal.
Click on the service it will pop up a window saying all the required documents for applying for that specific certificate from the government.
Let’s see an example here,
click on the community certificate service, and you will see this window.
This window says all details such as the processing time to get the certificate, validity, fee details for both general and BPL categories, fees through the portal and Akshaya, required documents to upload to the portal, etc.
Some documents need not to uploaded to the site instead you can enter the document number that is specified in the column provided.
So, how to validation is done?
Now almost all the documents that are previously issued for the people are uploaded to the Govt server in the form of digital copies. All that you need is the specific number which is unique for every certificate the government issued before.
The authority can validate the documents with the help of key numbers with the copy located in the server.
How to use eDistrict Kerala?
Log in with the username and password that you have chosen at the time of user registration. Then click on the service details tab and see all the available services. Click on the link for the service you want.
A window will open up and you want to fill up the form by providing the information. Make sure to provide the details carefully even though there is a pre-check point before submitting the form.
Once you have filled out the form properly, you can submit the form online and take the printout of the application. You can print it on paper or keep it as a soft copy as a PDF file for future reference.
Wait until the processing time complete
Processing time is the number of working days to validate and generate the certificate. This is estimated for each of the services. it may take up to 7 working days. You have to wait till the processing time is complete before checking back whether the certificate is generated or not.
Tell your customers to come back after the processing time. Once the period is over, check your eDistrict portal to download the certificate.
Download the certificate and give it to your customer.
How much can you charge?
For applying a certificate, normally the CSC charges from 50 to 100 INR. This is not included in the government charge. So, if you are getting at least 20 customers per day, you can earn a handsome amount of money. Plus provide other services such as printouts, xerox, lottery result printouts, etc.
The common service center is a great business opportunity. You only need a small investment such as a good and fast-running computer, printer, and some software tools.
