How to Edit & Correct Errors in Your Kerala PSC Profile Yourself

Have you ever made any mistakes when creating a profile to apply for Kerala PSC jobs? The Kerala Public Service Commission has added a new feature that allows candidates to correct errors in the details they have provided in their profiles.

This facility was added a couple of months ago, specifically on January 26, 2024. You won’t need to visit any common service centers or Kerala PSC offices to correct errors. Instead, it would help if you made changes corresponding to the information in your official or academic certificates. Failure to do so may lead to problems during the verification stage.

What details can candidates edit themselves in the KPSC profile?

The details regarding the candidate’s community, educational qualifications, etc., can be edited and changed according to the current status. In this way, they can simply avoid visiting the PSC’s district office or head office.

However, be aware that candidates cannot edit some details, such as their name, date of birth, photo, and signature. You can change almost all other details. If you want to make the changes I mentioned here, you should visit the PSC office in Trivandrum.

How to correct details in your profile?

First of all, login with your username and password.

Then click the Profile option on the top right corner of the profile page. And you’ll land on the My Profile activities page.

Click on the Profile Correction icon on the page. This is an OTP-based activity; a one-time password (OTP) will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP in the given box to edit the details in your profile.

Profile correction history

If you want to see the history of the profile correction, you can see it on the history page. Just click on the icon link and see all the changes you made before.

Self-corrected claims must be specifically proved at the next Profile Verification.

Once you make any changes, the status Pending will be shown in the status column. After checking, it’ll be turned to approved status.

Check the added details to see if there is any error

You can simply see all of the given details using the tab “Add/View profile” details section. This section will give you an overview of all the details that you have given to the profile. Cross-check with the original document whenever you want.

The following details can be added or viewed in this section

  • Educational qualifications
  • Personal details
  • Communication address
  • ID Proof
  • Land Phone Number
  • Mobile Number
  • E-mail ID
  • Experience
  • Employment
  • Physique
  • Weightage and preferences
  • Language Known
  • General certificates
  • Scanned documents
  • Service verifications
  • Photograph
  • Signature
  • Declarations

Except for the name, and date of birth, you can change other details by yourself. You can add more educational details because you may not completed the course at the time you created the profile.

Communication address can also be changed because your home location may change. Do not give false information to get the weightage as it will cause issues when the verification procedures begin after you get advice to any post called by the Public Service Commission.

Re-enter the details for a new score after the betterment of examinations

I can see many candidates forget to change the details if they have applied for a supplementary exam, or improvement exam when they are not satisfied with the previous score. Many universities are allowing students to re-attend the exam and improve their marks/scores to get new classes as a result.

At the time of registering and setting up the Thulasi Kerala profile, all they provide is the current information. When they got new improved marks and updated in certificates, they forgot to edit and add to the PSC profile. This will cause a huge opportunity to attend low-competition exams.

How?

Some post qualification demands first class or distinction marks in some subjects in degree level, PG level examinations. When you have not updated the improved marks in your PSC profile, the system won’t let you apply for those vacant posts. Because they are demanding high marks, the competition in the exam gradually will lower. So that the chance that you can crack the exam easily.

A small mistake can kill your ambition. I would recommend you join our Facebook group and page to know all the updates regarding the KPSC exams, notifications, recruitment, etc. We have a large community discussing the competitive examinations (Like PSC, UPSC, SSC, Bank Ecams, etc) and you’ll get help from both the admins as well as group members.

Double-check if the information has been updated

It is important to cross-check whether your edited information is updated. If the document and details are not updated, it won’t take any effect on your profile.

FAQ

Can I add Graduation as a qualification when I am currently pursuing the degree?

Yes! you can. You only need to produce the degree certificate or degree completed provisional certificate at the time of document verification after you are qualified on the exam and your name is on the rank list. If you are pursuing the degree second or final year, it may take time to call the candidates from the rank list. So, at the time of all the verification, you may have completed the degree exam and acquired the certificate.

But you have the pass all the subjects and the degree certificate should be approved by the Kerala Public Service Commission.

All the course certificates issued by all of the universities in Kerala are approved by the Public Service Commission.

What If I got graduated from the other universities outside Kerala?

Don’t worry when you have certificates from outside Kerala universities. However, the certificate or course should be approved by any one of the universities in Kerala. You should submit the equivalency certificate from any one of the universities.

Contact your nearest university for an equivalency certificate. They will provide it if they are approved for the course by the university from which your certificate was issued. Equivalency is granted when more than 60% of the syllabus matches that of the other university.

You have to pay their notified fee and they will grand the equivalency. Submit it with your certificate. To avoid headaches, it is better to check the equivalency of the course when you are going to join outside Kerala. Applicable for both regular and distance education courses.

Summary

Keeping an updated and accurate PSC profile is one of the success factors in getting a government job. Always keep an eye on your profile and update it when you acquire new qualifications because a hell lot of job openings are reported. One of my personal opinions is to get a degree or certificate from a rare course with a low duration. When the PSC calls for the exam, you can attend and win with less effort.
