If it takes 20 years after you receive your driving license from Kerala MVD, it is mandatory to renew it as soon as possible to make it valuable and eligible to drive in India. Carrying an expired driving license is no use and you should get a penalty when you get by the police or MVD during their day patroling. May go to jail when any accident occurs without a valid DL.
Many people usually forget to renew their license but it becomes a complicated issue when you are caught by police in the case of an accident or violating the traffic rules. It is the era of AI cameras and it is easy for you to be caught by the AI cameras and get a penalty if you violate any traffic rules like overspeed, no use of helmets, etc. When it comes to penalties, they may also check the validity of the driving license which may cause additional penalties.
In this post, I am going to show you how to renew your Lerala driving license online and offline. If you are in your native, you can make use of any of the two methods, but if you are abroad and your driving license expired, you can renew it online.
Many NRI do not make an effort to renew the licenses while residing abroad. But when they come to India, They can’t drive legally because their driving license expires. It causes many complications. So, if you are abroad, do the renewal at the correct time.
When you should renew your driving license?
You should renew your driving license on or after the expiry date. Usually, a driver’s license’s validity is 20 years from the date of the issued date or till you turn 50 years old, which happens first.
If you own a commercial license, it must be renewed every 3 years. a small period of 30 days which is known as a grace period will be granted for renewing. But if you exceed the grace period, it may cause a fine while you go for renewal thereafter.
You won’t need a driving test for renewal of the DL within 5 years from the expiry date. If exceeds 5 years, you need to attend the driving and road test again.
