All of us are using smartphones to communicate with each other over long distances. But nowadays, mobile smart devices have become entertainment devices rather than just communication devices because of having internet access to them. If you are a Jio SIM card user, I am here to help you suggest a Jio APN setting to get high-speed internet in 2024.
APN is the short form of access point name, automatically set to a mobile phone when you insert a SIM card into it. But by a small tweak, you can increase the internet speed up to 25% more than the current speed.
APN is just a simple word associated with each telecom operator. Different names for Vodafone Idea, Airtel, Jio, BSNL, etc. so,
What’s the access point name for Jio Network?
‘jionet’ is the access point name for your Jio SIM, and it will be automatically set on the configuration once you insert the Jio SIM on your phone and turn it ON. You’ll get a faster internet connection thereafter.
If you feel any slowness in connection, you can make simple changes in the settings to increase the internet speed.
To improve the internet speed, in the server field, change the default settings to the URL https://www.google.com.
Jio APN settings should be as follows
Go to the settings option on your mobile phone.
Then select Dual SIM and Mobile Network settings.
Select the Jio SIM from the dual SIM option.
Pro Tip:- It’s better to insert your SIM on the sim slot 1. Because some old model smartphones have only enabled the 4G in slot 1 but not 2.
Select the Network Settings option. Tap on the Access Point Name (APN) tab. Set it as “jionet”
In the server field set it as https://www.google.com
Next, you’ll see the Network protocol field. Select IPv4 or IPv6
Do not touch any other fields. set it as such. Then tap on the Save button to save the settings.
Disable and enable your Data from the top notification menu.
Now enjoy the Jio internet at high speed.

Make these changes on your Jio access point settings to enjoy buffer-free video streaming. I have changed to these settings since I am passionate about playing online gaming.
It’s necessary to have a high-speed internet connection if you are playing online games with friends.
How to check the speed?
You can experience the speed difference once you make this change. But if you want the real data, you can check yourself with the help of the Google Chrome web browser.
How?
Let me show you this.
RUN A SPEED TEST
Open your Google Chrome web browser and type check my internet speed. Then tap or click on the RUN SPEED TEST button to start testing.
The tool will test the current speed and will show you the result.
It’ll show you the download and upload speed.
Test this before and after changing the Jio APN settings, and you’ll see the difference.
Is customizing APN settings good?
Yes! but do not overcomplicate it. You’ll get higher speed in the default settings itself, but simply add server configuration to make a significant improvement in the speed.
Do not touch the username and password field. It should be left as default. When you set it to something, and when you forget, to connect to the network, you should factory reset the device.
Know about MCC and MNC
MCC (Mobile Country Code) and MNC (Mobile Network Code) are parameters used in APN (Access Point Name) settings to specify the mobile network provider and the country where the network operates.
Mobile Country Code (MCC): MCC is a three-digit code that uniquely identifies a country within the international mobile network. It’s assigned by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Each country has its own unique MCC. For example:
- 310: United States234:
- United Kingdom404:
- India (for Jio network)
Mobile Network Code (MNC): MNC is a two or three-digit code that identifies a specific mobile network operator within a country. It’s assigned by the national telecommunications authority. In India, it’s TRAI (Telecom Regulation Authority of India) Different mobile network operators within the same country will have distinct MNCs.
For example:
- 10: AT&T (United States)
- 20: T-Mobile (United States)
- 40: Jio (India)
In APN settings, MCC and MNC are used to correctly identify the mobile network provider’s infrastructure and ensure that the device connects to the right network for data services. These codes play a crucial role in establishing a connection to the mobile network and routing data traffic appropriately. It’s essential to input the correct MCC and MNC values in APN settings for the proper functioning of mobile data services.
