Life Mission is an established project of the Kerala government to ensure a house for those families in Kerala having no land or housing. It’s a big project. All the landless families will be rehabilitated. In most cases, village or panchayath members and other local bodies will ensure a home for those landless families in their respective wards because they know that the families cannot build homes and don’t have even a small land.
if you are eligible for a home under the Life Mission housing scheme, you can ask your ward members to get a decent livelihood. You can apply for the Kerala Life Mission housing scheme online if they refuse to add you to the scheme. In most cases, your ward members will know more about you and will do all the procedures for you.
Anyway, I am here to share the processes to apply for the Life Mission housing project online.
The full form of the LIFE in Life mission is – Livelihood inclusion and financial empowerment
Eligibility criteria
For those who have land and no home
- Should have ration card under any ration shop in Kerala
- The applicant should not be an employee of any of the Kerala departments or partial government department
- Should not be under any pension scheme
- Annual income must be under 3 Lakh Indian rupee
- Should not have 4 wheel vehicle in their home
- should not have land above 25 cents in Grama panchayath, above 5 cents in corporations or municipalities (Not applicable for Scheduled casts and scheduled tribes)
For those who have no land
should not have land for any member in the ration card. or just 3 cents for whole members in the home.
Documents required to apply for LIFE mission housing schemes are
- Aadhaar card
- Ration card
- Caste certificate
- Income certificate
- Photographs (2 copies)
- Medical certificate (For disabled people)
Documents or circumstances details
- Medical certificate from a surgeon for those members having mental issues, blind personalities in the family
- Family member with 40% disabled
- Having crucial health issues or diseases like heart, kidney, lungs, diseases.
- HIV-infected members
- etc
How to apply for the Life Mission Housing Scheme in 2024?
Online application for the new LIFE mission scheme is done through the official website at https://life2020.kerala.gov.in/
First of all login with your username and password. For those individual personalities, this could be their registered phone number. You can generate an OTP (One-time password) to log in with the portal.
Once you log in, you’ll see all the eligibility criteria on the right side of the window. Read all of them properly. I have given the criteria above on the page.
From the left side of the window, you can select the type of applicant you are. I have listed two types of applicants based on eligibility. Applicants with own land and without land.
Then give the details in 5 different stages
Stage 1:– Ration card number
Stage 2:– Applicants details
Stage 3:- Family member’s details
Stage 4:– Details regarding the land (For applicants having own land)
Stage 5:- Upload documents
In the first 4 stages, fill out all the details they are asking carefully with the documents in your hand.
5th stage is the document upload. PDF files of all the documents should be uploaded to the server.
Factors to be considered for completing the final stage
- Check the available document types that can be uploaded.
- Check the allowed file sizes
Once you have all the details given online with the provided website, you can click on the Submit button. Before that pre-check all the details that you have provided to cross-check it again. If any corrections are needed, edit them and submit them.
Download the submitted forms print them out and keep them with you for future reference.
How to know if your application has been selected for the LIFE mission project?
You can log in with your login ID and password and then check the status of your application.
There is an additional option too. Visit the local or taluk official website to see the updated list. The website address is https://lsgkerala.gov.in/ml/website/web
The list of Panchayaths is given in alphabetical order.
There is a drop-down filter option to find out the status or list. At the top of the page, select your district from the first drop-down list. Type from the second drop-down list. This will filter out the details of your own district’s customers details.
Click on the link that belongs to your village or panchayath and check the status.
How long will it take to process your application?
This completely depends on the department. Many factors influence the processing time such as the government leave, employee attendance, etc.
But because of the court order, now the processing time only takes less than 5 months and they are releasing the approved candidates’ details within 5 or 6 months from the date of application.
Thanks to the court and some opposition parties for making this great progress. Because a hell lot of people are struggling with their lives because of not having their own homes, many of them are living in a house by paying high rent.
The government of this project helped tens of thousands of people in a great way. According to government reports, more than 2 lakh people are now getting the benefits of the LIFE mission project as per last year’s report.

If you have any complaints regarding your application, you can contact the Taluk offices in the Tahasildar’s office directly. They will analyze your application and will take necessary action.
If you feel that you are being ignored by lower authority officers and you are certain that you are eligible to get a house through the mission, you can contact the Taluk office with all the relevant details.
